Dr Patrizia Franco is principal technologist in Demand Modelling at Connected Places Catapult interested in research and innovation in new and emerging mobility services. 

Former researcher in Transport Modelling and Data Analysis at Newcastle University, she has more than 15 years’ experience in transport planning and policy, strategic transport models, public transport systems and is specialised in Agent-based and Activity-based Modelling to model Mobility as a Service and Demand Responsive Transit to achieve greater sustainability and resilience in smart cities. 

Patrizia is currently technical lead for collaborative projects working with Department for Transport on urban and rural mobility issues in collaborative projects, such as “Assessing Sustainable Transport Solutions (AsSeTS) for Rural mobility” and DeMAND (Demand Modelling and Assessment through a Network Demonstrator) to improve the knowledge base around data-driven demand modelling tools and de-risk the uptake of new mobility services in Urban and Rural Mobility.
