David is the Innovation Lead for Cities & Mobility at Innovate UK, charged with developing the organisation’s urban mobility strategy and with technical oversight of the Connected Places Catapult. An American by birth but Londoner by choice, he holds a joint MBA/MURP from UCLA as well as a BA from Brown University.
David’s role at Innovate UK is to design and direct resources to UK-based commercial innovations that promote world-class urban mobility. He interfaces with local authorities, regional governments, industry institutions, and private firms to understand the market constraints and possibilities that Innovate UK can target. As part of his role, David is the technical liaison with the Connected Places Catapult, one of a series of best practice hubs in the UK, which aims to accelerate market leadership at the intersection of advanced urban services and transport sectors. With a background in urban infrastructure policy and finance, David has worked for multi-national engineering firms Arup and Mott MacDonald, research institutions like the World Resources Institute, and policy think-tanks like the Institute for Market Transformation. Although undeniably American, David has also lived and worked in Brazil, Kenya, France, and the UK. His career has focused on the integration of public and private approaches to support sustainable urban development around the globe. He holds a joint MBA/MURP from UCLA as well as a BA from Brown University.
