Christopher Paling is a Senior Lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University, whose expertise is in the environmental sustainability of air transport. He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students, and guest lectures at other universities. His current research is on airport carbon accounting and management. In addition, Chris is Chair of the UK Sustainable Aviation Advisory Board, a member of Airport Council International’s Airport Carbon Accreditation Advisory Board, and tutor on the three environmental courses offered by ACI World.
Prior to joining Manchester Metropolitan University in 2012, Chris worked for 11 years as an environmental advisor for Manchester Airports Group, responsible for climate change, local air quality and the airport’s environmental management system. He has a Master’s degree in Pollution and Environmental Control from the University of Manchester, has Practitioner status of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment, and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He is also a qualified Environmental Auditor and Carbon Literacy Trainer.
